This is the really fun category of the race and is perfect for corporate teams, family teams and beginner paddlers.  Everything is provided, you just need your team mates!

The hire of a a very stable sit-on-top kayak, paddles and PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) are included in each team entry fee. These will be available for collection at registration at Blues Point Reserve from 6:30am.

Teams of 3 people use a 3 seater kayak and paddle the full 18.1km course.

Relay Teams can swap out team members at each of the transition areas so that members are just paddling a short section of between 4.2km and 4.7km.  There are two options:

Relay Team of 4-12 people using the 3 seater kayaks.
Relay Team of 3-8 people using the 2 seater kayaks.

Entries are limited and close on Tuesday 15 March 2016 at 5pm for the Teams Challenge. There are no on-the-day entries available for the Teams Challenge.

Paddlers with their own craft paddle can paddle the full 18.1km course.  The following categories apply for both male and females:

Ski (including Ocean ski / Surf Ski / Mulitsport Craft)
Sea Kayak
Recreational (any other paddling craft)
Double Craft
Mixed Double

Participation Relay

If you have your own craft but the full course is just a bit too long for you, gather some friends and join in the Participation Relay. This is open to all craft, in any combination with a maximum of 4 people per team in a maximum of 4 different craft. You can swap over with your team mates at any or all of the Transition Areas.  You can use the same craft or a different craft for each leg.  Paddle Boards welcome in the participation relay.

Online entries for the Bring-your-own kayak categories close on Tuesday 15 March 2016. On the day entry is also available from 6:30 – 7:30am at the start at Blues Point.

Lifestart families and employees are able to receive a 10% discount on the entry fee. To obtain the discount please contact us.

How to Enter

Entries for the Lifestart Kayak for Kids are all online. Payment must be made at the time of entering.

To enter you need to have the following information ready:

1. What category you are entering

2. If in a team category – Your Team Name

3. Your own personal information

4. An emergency contact name and number for you/the team

5. Basic details for your team members as follows:

– Name
– email address
– mobile phone number
– address
– date of birth

If you are in the teams challenge and you are the team captain (person responsible for entering the team), you can enter your team without knowing all the members.  If you do know your team members, you can type in their names and email addresses and they will be sent a link to join your team.  You may also login at a later time and add team members.

Payment for entry fees are made online, by credit card, through our secure site. We accept VISA and Mastercard. If you need to pay via an alternative manner contact us.

Payment for fundraising is made through the secure site operated by Everyday Hero.

Insurance

AROC Sport is covered by its own Public Liability Insurance. This does not cover personal injury or ambulance for competitors. We recommend you get your own personal accident and ambulance insurance.

Joining Paddle NSW (the State – paddling organisation) may be a cost effective way of gaining personal injury insurance. PaddleNSW is assisting with safety at the event and they have two membership options available to paddlers. Single event membership will provide coverage for the Lifestart Kayak for Kids event and will cost $20 per paddler. If you decide to become a full member then you will receive full insurance cover and entry to other PaddleNSW events. Your single event membership can be upgraded to an annual membership at any time by paying the balance of the annual membership currently $69. Children under 12 are free if their parents are members. Each person participating in the event will be required to sign an indemnity form.
